Sunday or Monday, with an early morning start to maximize daylight and avoid afternoon precipitation. Avoid Saturday entirely due to heavy snow forecast.
Trail: Winslow Trail, Barlow Trail
Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
“Great conditions, only one small 2 foot by 1.5 foot patch of ice on the Winslow trail about 3/4 of the way up. Was able to bare boot all the way. I was the first one in the parking lot in the AM. Went up Winslow and down Barlow. Saw 5 other people on the trail. When I got back to the parking lot there were roughly about 10 cars parked at noon time.”

Trail: Access road, Winslow Trail, Barlow Trail
Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Wet/Slippery Rock, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
“I wrote a report for this last weekend and I did the hike again both yesterday and today. The melt is happening quickly and it is FAR more hike-able than last weekend's report. Many other people were enjoying it. Today our entourage was an AMC NH group of 11. There are still areas of ice and I recommend microspikes that are already beat up ("rock spikes"). If you are staying on trail some ice is still unavoidable on both Winslow and Barlow. Going counterclockwise was very helpful. Great hike- it was a beautiful day to squeak this in, in between the rainy forecasts.”

Rising to 2,930 feet in the Lake Sunapee region of central New Hampshire, this accessible summit is one of the most popular hikes in the state — and for good reason. The well-maintained trail winds through pleasant mixed forest before breaking above treeline near the top, rewarding hikers with sweeping 360-degree views that stretch across Lake Sunapee, the White Mountains to the north, and Vermont's Green Mountains to the west. A historic fire tower and stone fire warden's cabin crown the open, rocky summit, adding a layer of human history to the experience. Two primary trailheads — Winslow State Park and Rollins State Park — offer different approaches to the top, both relatively short and straightforward. Its inclusion on the 52 With a View (52 WAV) list reflects the exceptional panorama that makes this modest peak punch well above its elevation.
