White Mountains Summit Weather
Hourly forecasts computed at summit elevation for 112 peaks — temperature, wind chill, and freezing level where you'll actually be hiking, not in the valley below. Updated August 17 at 3:40 AM ET.
Valley forecasts don't apply up high: expect the summit to run 15–25°F colder than the trailhead town with far stronger wind. Pick your peak below for the hourly summit forecast, or check current trail conditions first.

Summit Weather FAQ
Why is summit weather different from the town forecast?
Temperatures drop roughly 3–5°F per 1,000 ft of elevation, and wind above treeline routinely runs 2–3x the valley speed. A 60°F day in North Conway can be below freezing with dangerous wind chill on a Presidential summit. Every forecast here is computed at the peak's actual elevation.
How often are these forecasts updated?
Summit forecasts update three times daily from NOAA/NWS model data, alongside trail condition reports. Each peak's page shows the exact time of its latest update.
Which peaks have the most dangerous weather?
The Presidential Range — Mount Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe — has the most severe weather in the White Mountains, with hurricane-force wind gusts possible in any month. Franconia Ridge (Lafayette, Lincoln) is the other major above-treeline exposure.
