Delete Your HikerNerd Account

This page explains how to request deletion of your HikerNerd account (operated by HikerNerd LLC) and the data associated with it.

How to request account deletion

By email (works for everyone):

  1. Email us at our support email from the email address on your HikerNerd account.
  2. Put “Delete my account” in the subject line.
  3. We verify the request comes from the account owner and then delete your account and associated data (see below).

In HikerNerd (while signed in):

  1. Go to Profile.
  2. Tap Manage Account.
  3. Choose Delete Account and confirm.

What data is deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove the personal data tied to it, including:

  • Your profile — name, email address, username, and avatar
  • Hiking records — ascents, completed hikes, and peak-list progress/goals
  • GPS tracks and recorded hikes, including route geometry and stats
  • Planned trips and any custom routes you created
  • Trip reports, reviews, and photos you uploaded
  • Strava and Garmin Connect connection tokens and any cached activity data from those integrations
  • Mobile push-notification tokens and notification settings

What is retained, and for how long

Your account and the data above are deleted within 30 days of a verified request. A limited set of records is retained only where required:

  • Billing and transaction records — retained as required for legal, tax, and accounting purposes.
  • A minimal, append-only sign-up record — kept for fraud-prevention and integrity purposes; it is not used to re-identify you.
  • Email delivery logs — retained for up to 90 days.
  • Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics — these do not identify you and are not deleted.
