24-year-old male rock climber from New York, NY · party of 2

Matthew Allen, 24, fell approximately 50 feet while lead climbing on Cathedral Ledge in the Barber Wall area when placed protection failed to hold. He struck the cliff and sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Rescuers from multiple agencies carried him up to the cliff top in a litter and transported him to Memorial Hospital in North Conway.
