Jade Dubois, a 19-year-old from Saint-Christophe-d'Arthabaska, Quebec

On July 28, 2026, Jade Dubois suffered a severe lower leg injury approximately ¼ mile above Hermit Lake Shelter on the Lion Head Trail, leaving her unable to walk. Good Samaritan hikers used a stash litter to carry her to the shelter, where Conservation Officers and AVSAR members assisted in transporting her via ATV down the Sherburne Ski Trail to Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. Dubois was met by a Gorham ambulance but refused hospital transport, opting to seek her own medical care.
