Affiliate Disclosure

Effective Date: September 28, 2026

HikerNerd is an independent site run by HikerNerd LLC in New Hampshire. Some of the links on HikerNerd go to outdoor retailers, and if you buy something after clicking one, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it helps pay for the forecasts, maps and conditions data that keep the site running.

Which links

Affiliate links appear on gear recommendations: for example, traction or layers suggested for the conditions on a peak, in our guides, or in our weekly email. We work with retailers through affiliate networks such as Impact and AvantLink, and through Amazon. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Links to trail maintainers, land managers, weather services, huts and other non-retail sites are never affiliate links.

What commissions never change

Conditions ratings, summit forecasts, trail reports and the safety and incident database are built from data and are never influenced by any retailer or commission. We recommend gear because it suits White Mountain conditions, based on our own experience on these trails, not because of what it pays. No retailer pays for placement or reviews what we write.

Why we tell you

You should know when someone might earn money from a recommendation. This disclosure follows the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements, and we note affiliate links where they appear.
