Sunday offers the best window with only a slight chance of rain showers and temperatures recovering somewhat, though trails will remain wet, muddy, and snow-covered from the Saturday storm. An early morning start Sunday is recommended to take advantage of any firmer, frozen surfaces before afternoon warming softens the snowpack and worsens postholes. Saturday should be avoided entirely due to heavy snow and near-freezing temperatures.
Trail: Davis Path, Crawford Spur
Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow - Spring Snow, Snow/Ice - Postholes, Slush, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
“Spring conditions are here. Mashed potatoes throughout with sporadic bare ground and icy stretches. Bare rocks in spots at upper levels. Highly recommend not listening to siren song of the microspikes as emerging narrow monorail is soft at best even with snowshoes I was still postholing in spots. Made a slight wrong turn .3 before spur and whacked over to the trail finding snow depth still quite deep in spots. Today's hike alternated between micros/ss and back again several times. Beautiful views at the summit”
Trail: Davis Path
Conditions: Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular
“Lots of fresh, loose snow on the trail, so snowshoes were necessary all day. Only saw 6 other people and everyone was in snowshoes. Perfect, bluebird day. Presidentials were looking beautiful! Steadily steep hike, but the summit views are worth it.”
Trail: Davis Path, Crawford Spur
Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts
“Hit Mount Crawford bright and early. It appeared to have got a mix of boots and snowshoes yesterday. My plan was to capitalize on the cold temperatures of the morning. Majority of the trail was in good shape. Depending on your preference you may prefer snowshoes, but you can use light traction. Toward the top you'll face some drifts, but nothing major. I'm assuming it got some action after my visit and I'm confident it will be in great shape come tomorrow and until the next storm.”

Rising above Crawford Notch in the heart of the White Mountains, this 3,119-foot summit sits along the Montalban Ridge, a long spine extending south from Mount Washington. Despite its modest elevation, the mountain punches above its weight with a rocky, open summit that delivers sweeping views of Crawford Notch, the Presidential Range, and the surrounding valleys below. The approach via the Crawford Connector and Mount Crawford Trail gains elevation steadily through mixed forest before breaking out onto exposed ledges near the top, rewarding hikers with a genuine above-treeline experience. The relatively short round-trip distance makes this a manageable objective for hikers building confidence on rocky terrain. As part of the 52 With A View list, it earns its place through exceptional summit scenery rather than sheer height, making it a favorite among peak baggers seeking quality views without committing to a full Presidential Ridge traverse.
