On July 11, 2023, David Bailey, 27, slipped on wet moss near Cloudland Falls on the Falling Waters Trail, sliding ~10 feet on rock before falling off an 8-foot ledge, sustaining injuries preventing further self-descent. NH Fish and Game Conservation Officers and Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue carried him down to the trailhead. He was transported to Littleton Regional Healthcare for evaluation.
What we can learn
Hikers should prepare for wet conditions by wearing proper footwear, carrying a headlamp, and bringing appropriate clothing layers for changes in temperature and precipitation.
