On July 7, 2026, a 17-year-old hiker from Conway departed at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the Moat Mountain Trail and became lost. He contacted his father at around 8:00 p.m. to report being lost before his phone battery died. Conservation Officers located him near Middle Moat Mountain on July 8 at 4:15 a.m. and assisted him back to the trailhead by 6:24 a.m.
