a 47-year-old from Grantham, New Hampshire

On the night of September 5, 47-year-old Joseph Gallagher of Grantham suffered a lower-leg injury after slipping and falling while on a night hike of Mount Cardigan with friends and family. A member of the party called 911, and rescuers stabilized him before carrying him out on a litter in rainy, slippery conditions to the trailhead. He was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment.
