A hiker on the first day of a planned 3-day trip slipped on a steep section of ledge near the summit of Mt. Moriah and suffered a lower leg injury. A Good Samaritan splinted the leg, and 24 volunteers from AVSAR and LRSAR with Conservation Officers carried him out by litter, reaching the parking lot at 10:55 p.m. He was taken by ambulance to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin.
