Rescue — Mt. Willard, Oct 10, 2026
a 57-year-old from Joelton, TN
On October 10, 2026, a 57-year-old hiker slipped off a rock about 0.3 miles up the Mt. Willard Trail and sustained a significant lower leg injury that prevented her from bearing weight. Fish and Game Conservation Officers and Twin Mountain Fire Department members provided first aid and carried her out in a litter to the trailhead. She then traveled by personal vehicle to Littleton Regional Hospital for evaluation.
What we can learn
Authorities reminded hikers to prepare for winter conditions in the White Mountains, as nighttime temperatures have been consistently below freezing and the high peaks are already snow-covered, and to be prepared to deal with real cold in the event of an emergency.
