On Sunday, October 4, 2026, shortly after 12:00 p.m., NH Fish and Game was notified that a woman had suffered an injury while walking on a trail near Cooks Pond in Madison. Her husband called 911 and guided rescuers from Madison Fire and Rescue, Action EMS, the Carroll County Sheriffs and NH Fish and Game to her. She was placed in a litter and carried about a quarter mile to the trailhead, where an ambulance was waiting.
