Sunday offers the most viable window, with temperatures recovering to the mid-50s°F and only a 23% chance of drizzle. Avoid Saturday entirely due to the heavy snow forecast. If hiking Sunday, plan an early morning start to maximize drying time on the trail surface and allow a comfortable buffer before any afternoon deterioration.

Trail: Mt. Morgan Trail, Crawford Ridgepole Trail
Conditions: Dry Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
“Mt. Morgan Trail to the ridge was mostly dry this morning, but there were a few mud pits. Typical muck thereafter due to active erosion. Ladders/ledges were dry. Rain started late in the morning, so it's probably wet now. Trailing arbutus and violet in bloom. Nice sunny start to the morning with blue skies and temperatures around 40F.”

Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow - Spring Snow, Leaves - Significant/Slippery, Snow/Ice - Postholes, Slush
“Typical Spring conditions throughout the hike today! Be prepared with all gear, including snowshoes and spikes. There's a bit of tricky ice heading up the last pitch before turning towards Morgan's peak and heading down from Percival's peak. Otherwise you'll find soft and sticky snow, crusty ice, running water on trail, wet leaves, and even some dry bare trail...a mix of everything. The weather held out and although it took me longer than usual to navigate due to the conditions, it was a fun hike with great views of Squam Lake. You can check out photos on the 52WAV Facebook group.”
