Daisy McCoy, a 75-year-old from Lyndon Center, VT

Daisy McCoy, 75, suffered a leg injury while descending the Gray Knob Trail toward the Gray Knob RMC Cabin on the evening of August 6, 2026. An RMC caretaker found her, retrieved a litter, and with the help of other hikers carried her to the cabin where she spent the night. The following morning, over 20 rescuers carried her down Lowe's Path to the road, where she was transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin.
