A 48-year-old hiker struggled to ascend Tuckerman Ravine Trail and took a shuttle to the summit to meet his three companions, then attempted to hike down with them despite being told to turn around. He became unable to continue, and after multiple 911 calls and his companions' attempts to assist him, NH Fish and Game and AVSAR rescued him, bringing him down via the Sherburne ski trail on an ATV to Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. He was transported to a hospital for precautionary evaluation.
