Conditions Saturday are poor with active snow and fog throughout the day. Sunday offers slightly improving temperatures (high 51°F) and reduced but still present precipitation (66% chance of slight rain) — an early morning start Sunday would be the best window in the next 48 hours, though trails will remain saturated and icy patches will persist, especially above 2,600ft. Monitor the forecast closely before committing.
Trail: Slippery Brook Trail, Eastman Mountain Trail
Conditions: Dry Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
“Went in from the back (Bartlett/Conway) side today. Didn't see another soul until we hit Eastman. The less-traveled part of Slippery Brook Trail was surprisingly well-maintained. It must get more traffic than it saw today (just us). It's a nice alternative way into Eastman and the Baldfaces.”
Trail: Baldface Circle Trail, Slippery Brook Trail, Eastman Mountain Trail
Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
“No snow or ice on the Baldface Circle Trail nor the Slippery Brook Trail. Only 3 small patches of snow on the Eastman Mountain Trail. These patches were at most, 3 feet by 1 foot. Easily crossed without traction. The trails had some mud that often had rocks to keep the boots out of the muck. It appeared that most of the mud was not deep. There were many moose deposits on the Eastman Trail. Easy to avoid stepping into the droppings. I did not see the moose. There are some views from the hardwood forest that will disappear in a few weeks. Saw a few yellow violets in bloom on the Slippery Brook Trail and a Trillium with all white petals (no violet color) off the Baldface Circle Trail. Stopped down to Emerald Pool to see the green colored water and the water flowing through the cleft in the rock above the pool. Great views from the summit that is marked by a large cairn.”
Trail: Quinttown Road, Kodak Trail
Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow - Spring Snow
“Beautiful morning for the quick gem of a hike to the Ledges.Bareboot nation om the ascent and donned the micros on descent to be safe. Minimal depth of crusty snow covering up a few spots of blue ice. Looking forward to returning when in the area late spring or autumn which im sure will be equally magnificent.”
